Just peachy!

Right now in Pennsylvania the peaches are in season. This wedding palette of peach colored blooms is a stunning choice for late July.

The bride’s hand-tied bouquet included peach Juliet garden roses, peach dahlias, pink carnations, white ranunculus, peach hypericum, pink carnations and silver dollar eucalyptus. The bride wanted to incorporate white anemones into the bouquet, so we used silk flowers for the best show and value.

Centerpieces for the reception followed the same color theme with white and light peach hydrangea, peach spray roses, peach hypericum, pink carnations and silver dollar eucalyptus.

July wedding weekend

This bride’s bouquet is in a cascade style, and is designed with white oriental lilies, Esperance roses, La Perla roses, white dahlias, majolica spray roses, green amaranthus and Israeli ruscus.

A lush, organic wedding bouquet

Our bride last weekend wanted a bouquet that was lush, organic and very romantic. This exquisite bouquet captured the feeling exactly!

Included in the bouquet were red dahlias, red mini calla lilies, blue eryngium, peach hypericum, pink ranunculus, brilliant cherry brandy roses, green sunflowers, purple wax flowers and seeded eucalyptus, with a touch of curly willow.

Mark and Dana’s wedding reception at the Aviary

It was a Ludwig family wedding reception at the National Aviary on June 30! Dana and Mark chose flowers in a subtle color pallete of blush, white and ivory. The flowers were offset with containers, votive candles and chargers finished in metallic silver and rose gold.
White hydrangea, white roses and white majolika spray roses filled out the centerpieces for the round tables.

The long tables featured oblong centerpieces with the same flowers.

The long tables also had table runners of greens and baby’s breath.

A Pittsburgh summer wedding

One of our recent weddings featured this bride’s bouquet with a very organic, “fresh picked from the garden” look. It is composed of medium pink roses, dark pink spray roses, light pink carnations, pink sweet pea, light blue delphinium, green hypericum and seeded eucalyptus.

Winter wedding flowers

It’s been a whirlwind wedding season here at the Blumengarten! Frankly, what with attending to multiple weddings each weekend, there never seems to be enough time to take photos and write blog posts.

In November the wedding season quiets down a bit. The cooler weather brings out looks for our brides that are quite different from the lush garden flowers of summer.

This bridal bouquet is a fabulous choice for the winter months. It features white hydrangea, roses, limmonium and star of Bethlehem.  Frosty, glittery accents are added with the addition of silver seeded eucalyptus and frosted pine cones. Beautiful!

The spring wedding season has begun!

We hit the ground running as our 2015 wedding season kicked off this weekend with four weddings on our schedule. Below are highlights of some of the flowers:

There are only a couple of weeks in the year where a bride can choose daffodils for her wedding. Crissy and Kevin’s wedding was a vision of spring with yellow daffodils everywhere. Yellow oncidium orchids and white freesia complement the daffodils in the bride’s bouquet.

Tall CenterpiecesThe Renaissance Hotel was the venue for Michelle and Brian’s wedding reception. The pedestal centerpieces include hydrangea, pink and lavender roses, spray roses and sweet pea.

Huppah with flowersAt the Edgewood Club, our huppah was decked out with flowers to create a romantic wedding canopy for the marriage of Suzanne and Bart.

Winter wedding flowers

Although the wedding season slows down considerably by mid November, the winter months are still a romantic time for couples to tie the knot. The winter season gives us the opportunity to experiment with different materials and interesting textures in our floral designs. The bride’s bouquet for one of this weekend’s weddings featured pine cones and artificial navy berries in the mix, with ivory roses and spray roses, silver brunia, pine, and seeded eucalyptus sprayed metallic silver and gold.

The bride in our second wedding chose white hydrangea, lavender roses, cream spray roses and Mayfair alstroemeria for her bouquet. The bouquet had a nostalgic connection for the bride. We incorporated fabric pieces from the veil the bride’s mother wore on her wedding day. Used as a stem wrap, the material with pearl accents became an exquisite finishing touch to the bouquet.

Flowers for a Grand Concourse wedding reception

The reception for one of our weddings this past weekend was held at the elegant Grand Concourse Restaurant in Station Square. The color theme was pale pink and white.

The bridesmaids bouquets complimented the bride’s with light pink roses and spray roses and white mini calla lilies.

Both tall and low centerpieces of white hydrangea, light pink oriental lilies, roses, snapdragon and calla lilies graced the tables at the restaurant.

Heinz History Center Wedding

How do you transform a public venue into a location suitable for a wedding ceremony? With flowers, of course! Here’s how we softened the industrial architectural forms of the Heinz History Center Library to create a romantic wedding chapel:

Heinz History Center column flowersWhite hydrangea, lilies, roses and alstromeria were woven with assorted greens and curly twigs to transform steel beams and create a focal point for the exchange of vows.
